Privacy Watcher: Exploiting Your Personal Information

If you have came across a program called Privacy Watcher, you may want to keep reading.  Privacy Watcher is a rogue (fake) privacy protection program that does exactly what the name implies it will do'watch your private information.  It even takes it a step further by selling it to people that will steal your identity and drain your bank account.  This program is a dangerous risk to your computer and requires urgency in removal.  If you aren't sure if you have downloaded this program, there are signs and symptoms that you can look for.

You may be wondering how this happened in the first place.  There are many ways that a rogue privacy protection program can find its way onto your computer.  In many cases, this software is downloaded through a video codec that is carried through a Trojan Zlob or Vundo.  You won't even be asked permission for the download if this happens.  In most cases this will be one of the many parasites that the Trojan will download on your computer.  After this has happened, you will just have to wait for the pop-ups and unwanted tool bars to start showing up to even know that something went wrong.

The most commonly observed form is through the use of pop-up ads.  This has been going on for awhile, and it still surprises me that it is even used anymore.  Most people are aware that pop-ups equal danger.  I often wonder if these pop-ups get clicked on accidentally.  In many cases, the logo looks so similar to reputable companies, I could see them getting clicked on without  thinking twice.

The click is all it takes.  The download has taken place and you will now be poked and prodded into  purchasing the software through scare tactics that falsely claim infection or exaggerated positive results. In the meantime, you have downloaded a program that will monitor every move you make.

If you purchase the software for twice the amount of market value, it will scan your files and report files that you have legitimately put there as harmful and remove them.  This may permanently damage your computer.

Other symptoms include a slow running computer due to the program constantly running in the background.  You may notice that it automatically connects itself to the Internet.  It is very likely that they have tracked your online activity and sold your information to companies that will market you through an onslaught of pop-ups.

By now, you are probably just wondering what you need to do to get rid of it.  It is possible to manually remove this malicious parasite, but dangerous.  You will need an experienced user to delete the files or risk permanent damage to your computer. You could also try an anti-spyware program.  The problem is that the files usually don't get completely removed either way.

The purchase of a good anti-spyware program can give you peace of mind and save time and costly repairs to your computer.  I look for programs that guarantee 100% removal in 24 hours.  These software programs seem to be the most effective.  If the database doesn't contain the current Privacy Watcher definitions, it will within 24 hours and problem is solved!
